Yunru (Kathy) Shao received her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at Fudan University, China. During her undergraduate years she worked in a human genetics lab as a student research assistant on male infertility disorders. She also volunteered in an education center for child with special needs, and interned as a premarital health counselor at premarital health screening program. Her professional interests lie in transferring the most advanced genomic technologies into clinical settings and she is also hoping to help establish the profession of genetic counseling in China after graduation. Her Focus Internship is with the Jewish Genetic Disease Screening Project in the area of public health genetics. She enjoys cooking, painting and playing badminton in her leisure time.
